Day 0

So, here we go.

Maybe this boring entry deserves a bit of context. I'm on the way to Uganda with Kris. We're both going traveling for a week around Western Uganda, do some trekking and game-watching before heading to a town called Fort Portal.
There, we're meeting up with seven other students from Warwick, including my boy Ali, for one of our sustainability modules run by Colin Oram. Ali, Kris and me will be working for 2 weeks on fabricating and designing a 4-stroke longtail outboard motor for fishermen to use on the lakes in Uganda. The intent is to introduce these as a more sustainable and efficient option than 2-stroke petrol motors.
Then, a dozen other Warwick students join us from another part of Uganda to work on conceptualizing a possible hydropower scheme in the mountains to power localities without electricity. This lasts a week, then everybody hits the road, back to the UK. Ali, Kris and me will be staying for another week of traveling, before heading back on the last day of summer break.

So, here we go. Enjoy the next five weeks!
