Pepysman

A week later

A week after the last photograph you can see a significantly greater number of autumn leaves on the chestnut. It still has a good covering though even if there have been a few flurries of leaves.

Years ago, studying for my botany exam, I knew why leaves turned brown and withered in the autumn but can no longer remember the details. Something about cells blocking the ends of the leaves and no more food getting through but that might just be my imagination.
