Brodsworth Community Woodland

Brodsworth Community Woodland is on the site of Brodsworth Colliery. Closed in 1990, the colliery provided employment for almost 3,000 people at its height.
Now maintained by community rangers from the Forestry Commission and renamed Brodsworth Community Woodland
In the twenty years since its closure, this former pit has been transformed by the Land Restoration Trust into a pleasant open area for all the family to enjoy.
The ugly dereliction, with its spoil heaps and slurry pools left over from mining days is gone and in its place is a maturing broadleaved woodland and a haven for wildlife with a network of ponds running through the eastern side of the site.
