GAZA IS NOT A PRISON!

The words come from Humanitarian Affair Officer Hamada A. Al-Bayari at the UNs office in Gaza (OCHA).
“It is worse than a prison! In a prison at least you are granted regularly meals, clean water to drink and safety. People in Gaza have been trapped in a small corner with nothing. The consequences of the occupation and blockade is a lack of food, lack of clean water, lack of fuel, lack of electricity, lack of work, lack of import and export and lack of… the list goes on and on. The psychological and social effect of the constant shortage and being trapped is huge. It’s a matter of dignity.”

Mr. Al-Bayari also talked about that Gaza needs 250 new schools, and how the international community ignored that the occupant delay the process. UN can just seek permission to build schools one at the time, it takes 13 months to get an answer from the occupant, and if they get yes, it will take another 1 year to get the building material inside Gaza. How can the world except such behavior? For God sake, we are talking about UN Schools.

The misery in Gaza is manmade, and the situation can be corrected quite quickly. If the occupant respects International law Gaza will be on its feet again. Solidarity with the Palestinian means helping Israel to want and create peace.
That was the strong message from the OCHA office today.
