Purple Rimmed Carabus Beetle

We decided we needed our very own fancy Clematis vine.

So we put one in place today as our backyard landscaping plans continue to go forward.

It has a new trellis to climb on so it can show off its stuff to best advantage.

As we were working, a jewel of a beetle came by to supervise the worksite activites.

I’m not certain, but I believe it is a Purple-rimmed Carabus Beetle
(Carabus nemoralis).
