UFO?

Spotted this hovering in the sky over the village this morning.
I watched it for a while until it took off at a fantastic speed in a north-westerly direction.
It was difficult to estimate the size of it, but I reckon an elephant would easily have fitted inside.
It reminded me of the spaceship in The Day The Earth Stood Still. The original version is one of my favourite films. Klaatu barada nikto.
Does anyone out there have favourite Sci Fi films?
I wonder what this is/was?
