Headless me

I was talking to Adda today about how difficult it can be for us to objectively decide how good a photo is right after a shoot. Like in the case of writing poetry, photography too requires one to delve deep into our consciousness and to be able to view the photos from a "distance" so to say is not possible immediately.

A photo that may seem good soon after might be due to certain challenges, technical or otherwise faced while taking the shot. And that may cloud our judgment too.

But genuinely good photos always last the test of time. Some of them may have been simple and easy to capture and yet may contain in them enough depth to last the distance. Which leads me to believe, that as photographers, it is essential to have a certain reverence, if I may use the word for our subjects. Technique cannot replace that.
