An ordinary life....

Man at Work...

Well there were actually 4 men at work in the garden today. Three putting up the new fences at the back and one painting the old fence at the side. The one in this emergency blip shot is cutting chunks out of the old stone wall as the fence on that side is being bracketed onto the top of the wall.

I made them tea and the boss man chatted to me for ages. It was hilarious. He’s a local in his 60’s and was born and brought up here and had loads of gossip to tell about the history of our house, the characters who have lived in it as well as other characters from the town. All extremely interesting to me but he told all his stories in the local dialect, at a million miles an hour, from a mouth that was short of a few teeth so it was nigh on impossible to understand what he was saying! And there’s a limit to how many times you can say slow down and speak clearly man! “sorry, didn’t quite catch that."

That said, I did catch a few titbits about a local we know that confirmed what other people have told us. It made me laugh out loud. Obviously not for sharing on a public forum ;)

Prior to this, I met Janice and Fiona at the Farm Shop for coffee, an apple and cranberry scone delish! and a catch up. We've not managed to get together since June so we have put a date in the diary to meet up again in November, otherwise time just drifts.

David’s just got home and we’re about to have steak pie for tea. All in all a damn fine day. Except I keep thinking it’s Wednesday!
