The Long Road.

Forty-nine years after this article appeared in Physical Review Letters, Professor Peter Higgs became a co-recepient for the 2013 Nobel Prize for Physics, along with Belgian physicist Francois Englert of the Free University of Brussels, for their work into the nature of mass which lead to the discovery of the Higgs Boson - recently discovered at CERN's Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.
