Canal Walk

It's been a rather grey day, and I wasn't really inspired to do much of anything :(

Still, having done the weekly shopping this morning, I grabbed the camera and headed to Pyrford and the River Wey Navigations. The canal path passes by the ruins of Newark Priory, a St Augustine's priory on an island surrounded by the River Wey and its moat-like channel the Abbey Stream near the southern boundary of the village. Unfortunately, the Grade 1 "at risk" ruins are on private land and not accessible, not even with a long lens due to the surrounding trees! However, the canalside provides a pleasant walk.

While heading back to the car, I noticed the late afternoon sun breaking through the clouds, taking on a golden glow - so just couldn't resist playing...
