Garden Compost Parade Float

We decided that it's time to take out the ornamental flowers growing in our veggie garden today.

It's part of our winter prep of the garden plot as we do not want flower seeds in the garden.

A warm autumn afternoon was simply perfect for the job.

These marigolds were supposed to be 12 inches tall and compact.

Each of the two plants grew to 2 1/2 feet tall, spreading out to 4X4 feet.

I think the fertilizer we applied to the veggies agreed very well with the marigold’s digestion.

It was more than a bit sad to see these summer flower friends riding high on the garden debris trailer.

I had to smile, though, as their last hurrah turned the garden trailer from a compost pile on wheels to a rather nice parade float.
