Any surge-estions?

A very strange thing has just occurred - we've had two very short power cuts (only lasting a few seconds each time) and on both occasions, when the electricity came back on, the living room radio (previously off) also came on.

But the really weird thing is, that the second time, the bathroom radio also switched itself on - and it runs off a battery!!!!

How the hell did that happen?
