Protecting marine life

The maiming and death of sea creatures as a result of plastic pollution in the world's oceans has reached appalling levels, and I'm glad to say the Australian Government has a national program to combat the problem. But what is really needed is for individual people everywhere to behave responsibly, and it's good to see even this modest measure by our shire council to encourage that. The bin is at Surf Beach, Batemans Bay, looking out to the Tollgate Islands, whose waters are a critical habitat zone for the protected Grey Nurse Shark - not dangerous to humans.
