Garden mysteries...

Truth be told this was taken with the borrowed --just okay-- camera last evening (I am incredibly busy today) when doing some garden clean up with lots of mosquitoes and two black cats helping. The camera flashes each time-- for good and not good.
If you look to the right you'll see Uncle Buddy's eyes flashing back. GTt sat herself down on the new bark mulch to the left. I had just set a tall wire cage over the Western Red Cedar in hopes of discouraging any deer from nipping its lovely growing tips. Gracie T-t just loves to try out new things. I have grown this non-native cedar since its babyhood... imported from west of the Rockies 5 years ago. It is 5 feet+ now.

The foreground plant I have tried repeated to capture is a volunteer winter squash trailing across the lawn. No squash would ground inside the raised bed this year, but this one, a kind of hybrid, leftover from last year, sprouted outside and has produced at least 8 squash large and small along its four arms., with more on the way.
Garden mystery!!
