Knot Grass Caterpillar

Larva of the Knot Grass Moth (Acronicta rumicis)

In the hurly burly of autumn gardening
(dead-heading, weeding),
a curly caterpillar lands on a leaf,
carefully wary: a moth's hairy seedling.

Another beautiful, blue sky for most of the day - the best sort of October weather.
