Beginning to end.

Back in September I went to Islay with friends. One of my souvenirs was a huge hank of sheep's wool I found and and brought home.

I put the wool in a net bag and washed it in the machine on a wool cycle.

I don't own hand carders so I hand pulled the wool into rolags which didn't take too long and then spun it using a drop spindle. Which took ages. I think spinning enough to ply into 100g of yarn took about a weeks worth of evenings.

Gives you biceps does spinning with a drop spindle.

I then found a set of double ended knitting needles and knitted myself a hat.

It has quite a harsh texture, and is not in the least fluffy, but it fits nicely.

I am quite proud of my nice hat.
