Ready for action

A lot of walking today, fortified by a hearty breakfast of Eggs Benedict. We walked all round the town, then out to the Vanderbilt summer residence, The Breakers, which they, apparently without irony, referred to as their 'cottage'. We went round Hearst Castle in California a few years ago which I found to be completely tacky and frankly, I expected the same of The Breakers but actually, it was really impressive. Just not a cottage. Newport RI is certainly a really nice place, and we're looking forward to a good seafood dinner tonight. And the fire engines? I just liked the look of them.
