'Fairy Tree' at St. Cooey's Wells, Portaferry.

Susan showed me the ancient wells up the Ballyquintin Road outside Portaferry, Co. Down. This was the site of a 7th century church that was pillaged by Vikings a few times. An altar and 'penance stone,' and the wells are all that remains today. But the site is much older than Christianity; as you can see pagan practices are still in use here in the 21st Century.
