Forged steel shackle

When I went to see whether the travellers were still here I found the meadow empty and and its access track shut off by a closed gate with a shiny new lock. I was surprised how much I missed them. What a shame that we weren’t up to offering our visitors a better welcome. I wonder where they are now and what they think of Oxford.

But I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s headline in the local paper – ‘Travellers leave site so tidy you’d never know they’d been there’.
