Sunday is for the Dogs

One of the unexpected discoveries of our move to Cuenca, Ecuador, is that the city is filled with dog-lovers. Almost every household seems to have one or two dogs – big, small and all types of breeds. I thought maybe my new neighbors would have thought it excessive that we transported our two dogs to a different continent. But, wandering with one’s pets is not a strange activity here, it seems rather commonplace, especially on Sundays, when the river trails and the cobblestone streets of El Centro are booming with people walking their beloved canines.
