Out of breath

I have just worked out why I' m getting out of breath walking up the stairs in the hotel. I know I'm not as fit as I should be, but I should be less out of breath. The reason is out there. A two fold issue. That view is Mexico City. The altitude here downtown is 7943 feet or 2422m (in new money) above sea-level. That's nearly twice the height of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. The hills in the background must be between 9 and 10 thousand feet. The second issue is the pollution. There is a smoggy haze over the city. Nice and warm in the sun though. 24 deg C today and the same for the next couple of days.
