Eating Out

A case of having to seeing as today we have three rooms that are partly kitchen but not one does the job. We have an excellent team working in the house. They are all independent of one another but work well together certainly on this project. Alan and Jimmy two Glaswegian joiners, who occasionally burst into song, singing in (or out) of harmony, excellent at what they do - got a problem? They creatively find a way round it (even if I can barely understand the conversation, apart from the odd word like '15 mls', 'three sugars' and 'hen'. Then there's Matthew the electrician who seems to be up there with Superman - no socket is a problem even if there's a touch of OCD in lining everything up. Then Ben the plumber who occasionally has a bad day where nothing appears to go right for him - nothing to do with the work he does for us but stuff in the background like vans breaking down and equipment not working, but he more than makes up for this with his skill, personality and speed. Finally 'Li'l Chris - a Geordie who does the basic building stuff - very good at finishing touches and dead reliable. He too has problems understanding Glaswegian and only recognises 'Hen'. In turn the Glaswegians have difficulty understanding Geordie. Then to throw the cat amongst the pigeons ther are occasionally two Polish lads who join the fray - nothing dodgy you understand. But thanks to this team, legible or not, they are doing a great job which appears to be on time and within budget. I'll buy them all more than a pint and their 'tea' when they have done!

The bar is at The Crown in Kirkoswald where the menu is modest but excellent.
