Mackintosh Rose by Robert Coia

Following on from yesterday's African Bull Elephant, here is the fourth wooden sculpture in the series 2014 Legacy for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Robert Coia is creating eleven works, to be placed in different parks around the city.

Mackintosh Rose is placed outside The House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park. Five intertwining roses, inspired by the work of Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and his wife Margaret.

On the ground around the base of the work are 29 clay stepping stones, each with a Mackintosh style rose. It looks like a school project, as one has mention of P5B. I hope an interpretation panel will be put in place soon.

I decided to give you the location of the piece, but I'll be back soon to get a close up. The light was lovely this afternoon on the wood and on the house beyond.

The next in the series is a Giant Panda for Queen's Park.

Update on 17 October : This sculpture was installed on Monday 14 October.
