Knights Drawing In

Finally got round to watching the concluding chapter of the Nolan brothers' Batman trilogy; a worthy successor to The Dark Knight, even though Heath Ledger's Joker would never be bettered as a villain. Whether or not the film attempts a political swipe at the Occupy movement (the Nolans deny it, but it's difficult to see the terrified stockbrokers and bankers being driven from their places of work by thugs as anything other than clumsy propaganda), it's still a stylish and riveting denouement to the series. On this kind of form I'd sort of like to see another sequel or two, but then I remember that the pool of Gotham baddies is shrinking with each instalment, and it's difficult to see how edgy and dangerous the Nolans could really make the Penguin or the Riddler. Always quit when you're ahead.
