Life on the Good Intent

Heron Does Meerkat

Another glorious day in Donegal.
Packed up but left tent behind - broken pole in a gentle breeze! Brendan happy to re-cycle it for any more unfortunate campers.
Another tasty lunch in Dunfanaghy and headed up the road to Ards Forest Park. Had planned to walk through the park but the unattended car park barrier required €5 - no change. Drove on to the Franciscan Friary and had a wonderful walk through the woods planted with exotic mature trees. Unfortunately the midges were biting - the downside of the mild weather.
There were three herons on the rocks by the pier, this one was so patient, posing this way and that. It looked like he was drying his wings in the sun.
Stopped in Letterkenney to stock up on Barry's tea and drove north to Coleraine as the moon was rising. After these three perfect days, there was a wee tear in my eye as I crossed the border. I was tempted to detour to Malin, another time. Can't come soon enough.
