End of the day

Today has been brilliant !

The weather report for the week said today would be good...the fog did burn off by 3.30, so I suppose it wasn't all wrong.

We don't need sunshine, British holidays are about being able to rock up and enjoy whatever the weather. And we did!

A trip to Whitby was the plan and we weren't to be put off by a bit of a sea fret. The Abbey looked as magnificent as ever and St Mary's grave yard is better with some mist around the headstones.
First stop had to be the old sweet shop, the boys - my great nephews- have waited all year to get their fix and Dotty couldn't resist a bag of Salty Liquorice Herrings!

Other stuff today:
Picnic lunch on the harbour wall.
Hot chocolate and cake.
Whitby smokehouse.
Crashing waves.
Dracula style wedding.
Toasted sausages on a beach fire.
AND
The first ever annual Salty Liquorice Herring sucking competition took place on the bench overlooking the harbour at St Mary's Church.
