Mushroom or toadstool?

What's the difference? This is growing in the verge along the lane outside our bedroom window. Looks quite leathery, there are a few of them Wood and coal delivered today, wood already stacked in the shed, makes for a feeling of security! Like having a well stocked cupboard.
