Highly Unsprung

Sporting guru with bling!

Yesterday, Dad was quietly chuffed to win The Aberdeen Sports Council, Annual Sports Personality Awards 2013, Veteran category. I thought I'd note down some of the reasons why for posterity as well as awarding my mum an imaginary trophy for coping with Dad's sporting commitments dictating weekend schedules since the year dot! 1953 - under 15 Scottish Table tennis champion 1956 -under 18 Scottish champion (who knew?!, not me)! Represented Scotland in the Veterans 6 Nations Championships on 10 occasions in recent years Coached table tennis and cricketers from Powis, Ellon and Bucksburn Academies over many decades Played division table tennis in Division 1 in Aberdeen since age of 14, more than 60 years! Mr longevity in table tennis and all the while a maths and physics teacher to boot. And to my mum, also a teacher, whose weekends were spent making sandwiches for the cricket matches in the early days, or for the table tennis tournament or the weekday league match, I bestow an honorary patience award, hahaha. Well done Dad, well deserved, just wait till Tess and Sam see your trophy!
