Hounds

Early morning drag hunt in Gloucestershire.

The scent was laid 20 minutes beforehand for the hounds to follow over the rolling fields today. All the dogs had a wonderful time running with the whippers-in who keep the pack together. The men carry a hunting whip, not for whipping the animals but as a communication device with the hounds to keep them from under the feet of the horses and guide them in a certain path. This works along with the sound of the horn and cries to make them go in a specific direction.
