" Here I Stand"

Today the weather was a forecast. Rain, so we went to Bishops Waltham then onto Winchester. The above is the statue of King Alfred which stands at the main end of the town.

Alfred '"The Great" was born in Wantage Berkshire in 849 . He was a revered King who famously defeated Viking raiders and unified a major part of our country. He wad awarded the epithet of "The Great' by 16th century scholars long after his death in 899 At the time as king if Wessex he was the dominant ruler in England and left a legacy of education the use of English instead of Latin and a sense of dignity and structure to the trial courts .

That's the history and I love the place holding good memories plus it'd where my sister lived.
