Birthday rose

All the preparations for the weekend certainly paid off yesterday: we enjoyed yesterday afternoon's play, the birthday cake was delicious (I am told), and last night's party was a blast. We ate, drank, chatted, danced, and sang until 3:30am.

The highlight of the evening for me came at about 01:00am when our friend J recited from memory all but the last verse of Tim Minchin's poem Storm as a birthday tribute to Mr hazelh. We all loved J's performance. If you're interested in the poem, there is an animated version on YouTube.

J also brought a present for birthday girl K: a beautiful bouquet of roses, one of which I have blipped here.

Our weekend guests have now all departed and it's gone very quiet in our flat - and it's back to work for me tomorrow too :-(
