Community Meeting

Tonight we, and it seems everyone else in Blackheath, attended a community fire information meeting. They expected about 500, but in true Blackheath style 2 or 3 times that many turned up. They had to open up a 2nd hall to fit everyone in. The atmosphere in town is quite surreal - a bit like it must have been the night before a big battle. A sort of uneasy calm with everyone apparently taking it in their stride, but you can sense the tension underneath. Fingers crossed the worst case scenario over the next couple of days doesn't eventuate - and thank God for our wonderful firemen and women. We know they are doing everything possible.
