Civil War /Chickamauga National Military Park, GA

This is the Snodgrass farm in Georgia....the Snodgrass family, the inhabitants of George Washington Snodgrass's farm, who fled their home as a result of the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia during the U.S. Civil War, lived here. The family abandoned their house on September 19, 1863 after bullets from nearby fighting came through the farm. They returned after the battle to find their possessions destroyed or missing and the buildings bloodied, the result of being used by Union forces to treat their wounded soldiers. The farm later became part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.
