A very resilient little rose.

There is this rose in our garden, which was covered with paving slabs (by "he who shall remain nameless" but to whom I have been married for almost 41 years and who will probably protest innocence) while he was creating some more patio shortly after we moved here 10 years ago.

While Mum was still living with us, she used this patio a lotwhen the weather was warm enough as it is in a shady part of the garden.

Every year the rose manages gamely to force a couple of stems upwards between the slabs towards daylight, one of which always carries a rosebud.

This year, it has been a bit confused and has just produced a second bud which is protruding through the hedge. I felt a bit sorry for it this morning, and took a shot of it between rainstorms.
