Light & sight

Up

My ole Dad went up to the great second hand bookshop in the sky more than ten years ago - in fact it will be 11 this December. His enthusiasms included books, woodworking tools, more books, films, history (especially Scottish history), first editions of books, cinema, cafés, poetry, joinery and architecture. With a sideline in stray cats and orphaned fledglings....(he looked after the latter two from time to time...)
Picture an older Clint Eastwood with salt-and-pepper curly hair, a checked shirt, fawn chinos and trainers - that'll take you pretty close to me old Dad.
Anyways, his architectural knowledge meant he could identify the historical period in which many buildings had been constructed, with just a quick and casual glance. He also taught me and me bruvver to look up rather than down when walking around - you can find some interesting angles and intriguing aspects when you take your eyes from your shoelaces and look to roofwards....
