U-Bahn München: 3/100 Am Hart

Munich Underground: 3/100 Am Hart

Third station in my strictly alphabetical Munich underground series. I know it's only two days since the last blip from underneath. Am Hart ("At the Forest") underground station was opened in 1993, when the city administration was more aware of art in architecture. So the underground station got a rather interesting ceiling, made of white aluminium plates, which span across the platform like the wings of a bird. The brightness of the ceiling reflects the light and in turn brightens up the platform underneath. The walls are made of blue mosaic tiles.

I read up on how you manage to get photos of stations without all those annoying communters. Turns out the solution is rather easy: go there early in the morning, when there are no commuters. The Muich underground opens at 4:30 in the morning - and I'm not really a morning person, so that was rather unfeasible. On the other hand the stations close at 1:45 at night - so that's rather my kind of time. This shot was taken at 1 o'clock in the morning.
