Art Show Sampler

You probably need to see this LARGE.

Well it's been one hell of a week. Every day it has been a matter of up early, out the door and into any number of weird activities.

Much of it was bushfire property preparation: clearing up and removal of overhanging vegetation and dead garden materials - perfect spot fire fuel. Then it was clearing out the dead leaves from gutters (mine and my neighbour's) plugging the drains and filling them with water. Then came the packing of bags for emergency departures, assembly of back up hard drives, laptops, some of the photography gear, the family jewellery, cat essentials, insurance papers. Arranging for temporary emergency accommodation came next - should the worst occur.

Then there was the preparation for the Art Show. Last minute cataloguing and cover artwork was followed by framing of certain exhibition works, reception for artists' entries, last minute changes to judging arrangements, setting up of display stands, transport and erection of lighting and sound gear and then negotiations with artists who were apprehensive of bringing their work to Blackheath. Then followed artwork & printing of award certificates, hanging and labelling of actual works along with emails to enquirers who were certain that the Rhodo Festival must surely be cancelled by now.

And then ... for a little sanity it was some scrounged time to answer the kind and supportive messages from my blip friends. Time constantly ran out though and for most of you I must have become the "one that went AWOL" :o)) In that last connection, please accept my profuse apologies. I shall probably start making appearances again soon. You have all been very kind AND very patient. I thank you very much.

So what is this blip about? These are some selected images from our 2013 Rhodo Art Show. The one bottom right was the winner in the Photographic Portraiture section. Yet again I plead for foregiveness. I shot all these very quickly and hand held. There are heaps of (ahem) extraneous reflections and stray lighting sources. Still .. you may get some idea of what these images were really like.
