This is the seed and leaves from a common spindle or Euonymus Europaeus found in the newly planted hedgerow. The leaves are turning a spectacular red to make it scream all the more!!

The wood of the Spindle is very hard and can be sharpened to a strong point and it was commonly used to make spindles for wool.

The seeds are intensely poisonous and can result in Kidney and Liver damage and even death.
