pitcher and bowl in the morning

I've been experimenting some with defocusing recently. Kinda like the notion; don't know what to do with it yet. Got the idea to do some experiments when I found myself looking at the out-of-focus backgrounds of photos...and being intrigued. Started remembering -- believe it or not -- the atmospheric background landscapes in old holy cards from my Catholic childhood. I would sometimes, when looking at the cards, find myself thinking less about the saint pictured and more about what it might be like to be in that ideal and ethereal landscape. Who knows where it was? Heaven maybe.
