Putting Them Back

Yesterday I was chatting it up with a friend when she asked me what I was going to be doing with my morning today. Well--Nothing of course. It's my first weekend on my own in... well in for ever it seems. So my original plan was to sleep in,maybe get in the shower, lounge around, watch Netflix, listen to music and write a little bit.

When she asked me if I wanted to help put a whale skeleton together I was floored! Of course I did!!

So that's what I did this morning. Woke up earlier than I'd woken up in a long time, even for work and jetted on down to the marine biology school and started working on a skeleton of a young gray whale for the museum they're putting together.

In the four hours we were there, it didn't seem like we got a lot done, but apparently we did! We hung up a skull to take measurements, jaw bones were set in place and we drilled holes and pinned some flippers. We also got a sneak peek of the museum that isn't even finished being built!

This is the back bone of an orca that was in the museum. Simply amazing. I had a great time. The rest of my day, though will be full of naps, writing and goofing off till later. I still need to get a payment from a winner of a snake for our non-profit fundraiser and I haven't decided whether or not to go to a little BBQ that the whale skeleton specialist folks are putting on.
