Etching

Went to the Dean Gallery (I know that it's been re-branded Modern Two but it'll always be 'The Dean' to me...) for their Halloween Big Draw family event, all tied in with their current Witches & Wicked Bodies exhibition. My girls did some etchings and made wands whilst us adults took turns to have a scoot round bits of the exhibition. Some fabulous stuff there including copies of Matthew 'Witchfinder General' Hopkins' book from 1647 and all kinds of illustrations, paintings and prints on the the themes of magic circles, incantations, the Pendle witch trials and more.

And then out in the evening for a bit of culture, a triple bill of new writing at the Traverse. The first couple of pieces were impressive enough in their own right, but the final piece 'Spoiling' by John McCann was actually pretty brilliant - funny, political and sharp as you like.

Bit of music to finish. I can either pick summat appropriately occultish off one of my favourite albums from last year or have the forthcoming single by some new indie band.

You choose - 2012 or 2013?
