Evening Mallard

Last day of half term today. We spent the morning taking a friend for a walk out on the bay while the tide was out. Lots of birds to see including oystercatchers, curlews, turnstones, herons, godwits and geese. Home-made soup and Mary Berry recipe cheese scones made a great lunch and then we took advantage of the remaining little bit of daylight to visit the hide at Spynie. Lots to see there too and on a Sunday afternoon there are plenty nice folk popping in to have a look at what's going on. This duck swam up close to the hide just as the sun peeped out from behind a cloud.
