Any ideas?

We went for a breezy walk this morning on the marshes thinking tomorrow might not be good for walks. When out near Nagden I noticed - for the first time - this forest of wooden stakes sticking out at all angles from the mud of Faversham Creek.

I'm completely mystified by this and need to seek out some local knowledge. Remains of a wreck? Remains of an old landing stage? Dunno.
