The civil war within

A Sufi writer talks of the civil war within as our shadow side fights it out with the part that wants to hold to the light. Another way I've heard this described is the choice between feeding the good wolf or the bad, which comes from the Native American tradition. This struggle seems to be raging within me today and is symbolised by the two replica Lewis Chessmen in my study, the dark knight and the light berserker/rook.
