'Learning By Doing'

The one thing that we've always tried to instil in our kids to have a go at everything, no matter how easy or hard something may seem, and if something doesn't quite go as planned, then just have another go at it and eventually whatever it is that was hard has now become easier. We've never discouraged any learning behaviour, even if it could be dangerous like using sharp knives (under strict supervision of course). From when they were both babies, nowhere was out of bounds and they very quickly learnt how to negotiate the concrete stairs in our house or pick up an instrument or an animal to play with etc. etc. It's the same with cooking.

This morning before school, Bella made a pizza dough which was left to proof all covered up during the day.

After I picked up the kids from Linda's house tonight we stopped off at the supermarket to pick up some topping that each of them picked for their half of the pizza that they were going to make for themselves, Bella just wanted tomato paste base, with cheese, some mixed herbs and tomatoes, while Dylan was a bit more adventurous and chose to have some salami and semi-dried tomatoes.

Here is Bella standing up on her stool finishing off the cheese topping, meanwhile, just behind her Dylan was busy squeezing fresh oranges into juice for them both, because I wouldn't let them buy juice from the supermarket which is full of sugar. Anyway it's much more fun and tastes better to squeeze your own.

We all shared the pizza that the kids made and I made another one for myself and MsMun with a few more adult toppings on it like mushrooms and green peppers.

I'm a very proud dad of what our two have already been able to achieve in their young lives.

Kids are fast asleep in bed now, and I'm not too far behind them.
Night all.
