Rendezvous

A month ago I proposed to Kate that we secretly get our guys on the train and meet mid-way between Seattle and Portland for food and talk - their birthdays are tomorrow for the elder one and last Friday for the younger. (Kate is my Tom's daughter and bet you can guess which two) and we have always kidded that her Craig looks like he might be my son/ little brother?!? A quick delightful 4 hours - Craig is VP of Mercy Corps, is all over the world with travel - Pakistan and Afghanistan on Friday and just home from meetings in Europe, so getting any time with him is a TREAT.

(Mercy Corps is a NGO based in Portland for whom he has worked for about 13 years, first in Baku, Azerbijan, then Eritrea, then Djarkta, so great to have them and the boys in Portland. There, more personal than a usually give out, but what they hey - you all are friends!)

And the surprise worked! I told Tom to not pester me with ?'s the whole way! He did his crossword like a good well trained guy!
