In the park!

Day out together today and decided to do a trip into town for some shopping, but a detour first to walk round one of the town's parks.

Some fantastic autumnal colours around, but as we got near to the end of our circumnavigation this heron landed, not in the main lake, but near an ornamental pond. Magnificent specimen who didn't get to find his lunch as I (or someone else) managed to disturb him by accident.

Managed to get our shopping expedition done too before a late lunch in an Italian restaurant which is in the old 'pattern shed' of the railway works in town. Its wonderful how buildings which served for many years in one capacity are being put to new uses now circumstances have changed. A bit like us I guess, finding different ways to serve once forma paid work has been replaced by volunteering in retirement.
