"Always A Pretty Picture" ...

... Yes, we've seen this one before - it's just around the corner -but I just can't go past this lovely old place without sharing another capture of it, and it's been looking like this for the past month or so and finally beckoned me over to take another shot of it on this lovely sunny morning...

...For those who haven't seen it before - it is the Rio Vista Historic House and was the home of WB Chaffey and his family...it is Spanish for 'river view'.. The Chaffey Brothers were pioneers in this district in the late 1800s.. In 1888 the brothers planted 150 acres of wine grapes on their property out of Mildura, and thus commencing the region's wine industry..

...They were visionaries from Canada, with money obviously, and their vision and desire to have water permanently accessible for irrigation and river transport was fulfilled, through a series of Locks and Weirs, constructed along the Murray River..and Lock 11 where I sometimes show the riverboats, is just down in front of this lovely old home which is set high above the river right here...

...Throughout my publishings here - I've shown the Chaffey Women's and Children's cemetery and as well a replica of the first homestead they lived in prior to living in this beautiful old home..open to the public daily with a cafeteria inside..

...The home itself sits amongst lovely manicured lawns and trees, and specially commissioned sculptures and right next to our brand new Arts Centre..which is very popular with many locals and as well, from afar..
