One Year Difference

The difference from what we were experiencing a year ago is astounding. Last year on this date, we found ourselves in the middle of a cemetery, in the middle of the night witnessing Dia de los Muertos as locals due to our friendships in Patzcuaro. It was cold, it was dark and it was an experience never to be forgotten. This year, having stayed in Zihuatanejo, we did our usual beach thing on this special day. It was hot, it was sunny and it was exactly what we have come to expect from our home. While last year we were treated to incredible artistic sights that required more than a single image to fully appreciate, this year it was a simple drawing in the sand (with coconut eyes no less) that was the selected image. A country so full of diversity, our life so full of contrasts.
