The Lister Lion

What a day - sunshine in the morning and a great thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Had a quick walk around Shibden Park - Polly likes to chase the squirrels (but they don't play fair - they run up trees and don't come down again).
This tree sculpture is a new addition and the first in Shibden Park. It was carved in July 2013 from a beech tree that had died.
The lion holds the coat of arms of the Lister family who lived at Shibden Hall for over 300 years.
Viewed large you can see some nice detailed workmanship.
